Get to The BC in 2012


They’ve arrived! The highly anticipated 2012 Butler County Visitors Guides are finally here. We just unloaded nearly 40 thousand visitors guides packed full with all of the BC’s greatest places.

The 2012 visitors guide has been upgraded from the 2011 version. New features include five handy BC itineraries outlining the greatest places to say, eat, and play in The BC.

This year’s guide also includes three neat new magazine style features aimed at exploring the BC’s most popular places. The features, Make it a Family Affair, Uncovering Historic Hidden Treasures, and Shopping for the Soul, explore all the greatest family attractions, beautiful historic locations, and the trendiest shops in The BC.

The BC is home to many great parks, complete with picnic areas, scenic hiking trails, bike paths, fishing, and so much more. This year, we included a parks guide to help you find the perfect park for you and your family. The new guide utilizes individual icons to help you identify which great BC parks feature the amenities that you’re after.

Say Goodbye to Rainy Days


Rain, rain, go away! Say goodbye to the seemingly never ending wind and rain and welcome the warm sunshine and Spring by visiting some of the BC’s most beautiful parks, museums, and cozy bed and breakfasts’ for…FREE!

That’s right, you can leave your umbrella behind and enjoy great BC spots for free. Family Friendly February


February in The BC is packed full of fun family friendly festivities. With a busy month full of events, you’re guaranteed to find the perfect family adventure.

Have a miniature train conductor in the family? Head over to the world’s largest indoor model train display at EnterTRAINment Junction. The Junction is kicking off “Everything Thomas”, a month long celebration of one of the most popular tank engine of all time, Thomas the Tank Engine. “Everything Thomas” features authentic Thomas wooden train layouts, a Thomas HO scale electric train display, videos, crafts, and a Thomas Friendly Scavenger hunt. “Everything Thomas” runs through February 29.

Maybe you have a mini naturalist? MetroParks presents Discover Kids: Hoot with the Owls. Meet and interact with the resident owl and learn all about nature and wildlife. Hoot with the Owls is presented at Rentschler Forest Preserve and VOA Park. Be sure to check out our February events page for information about both presentations. 

Don’t forget about your little thrill seeker. The WEB Extreme Entertainment, nominated as one of the nation’s best laser tag arenas, will get your adrenaline pumping. With awesome laser tag, blacklight dinosaur miniature golf, a mini bowling ally, and an indoor go kart track, The WEB is guaranteed to become one of your kid’s favorite BC spots.

For your little drama queen, don’t miss the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee at the Greater Hamilton Civic Theater. The performance is a hilarious tale of overachievers’ angst, chronicling the experience of six adolescent outsiders vying for the spelling championship of a lifetime. Your future thespian is sure to thank you later.
