The Butler County family event for this summer month of June is the 84th Annual Strawberry Festival in Shandon, Ohio! Steeped in rich history, Shandon is Ohio's first Welsh settled in 1801 in Morgan Township. This historic town will feel like a blast from the past for your whole family! Parents can peruse antiques and collectibles at the Periwinkle House, kids can explore the haunting graveyard, and the family will stay cozily happy in the Welsh bed and breakfast, Plas Cadnant.
The 85th Annual Strawberry Festival welcomes you and your family for a day of Welsh food, music, history, and friendship this Saturday, June 12! The Strawberry Festival will feature a Picnic Supper at the Community House with fresh strawberries, home-made shortcake, Welsh potato and leek soup, Welsh cakes and pies, and more to be served by the Congregational Church from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Strawberry shortcake will be sold for takeout from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Refreshments will also be available in the Old Fire House from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. You’ll love the outdoor vendors and artists selling collectibles from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Antique Tractor Show all day in the old schoolyard, a strawberry bake-off and judging at 3 p.m. in the Old Fire House, and live Welsh harp and organ music in the historic Shandon buildings.
