April E-News, Get Ready to March into May

With all of the incredible Easter and Spring events happening in April, the month is going to fly by! Here is a glimpse into the exciting events coming this May to Butler County!

Renowned first as a novel, and then as a prize-winning motion picture, the story of the Joad family and their flight from the dust bowl of Oklahoma is an American classic. The Fairfield Footlighters will perform Grapes of Wrath May 21-30 at the Fairfield Community Arts Center.

Celebrate the Spring season at the 3rd Annual Wine & Art Affair hosted by the Oxford Chamber of Commerce in Uptown Oxford on Park Place May 22. With worldly wines to taste, art for sale on the street, and Oxford restaurants pairing their best dishes with the featured wines, you’ll be wishing this was a daily event instead of a yearly one!

Don’t forget a very special holiday in May, Mother’s Day! Get some fresh air and exercise at the Mother’s Day 5K Run/Walk at Woodside Cemetery in Middletown on May 9. This fairly flat course trails through this beautiful cemetery and arboretum.

April E-News, Outdoor Activities Abound

It’s time to dust off your Spring open-toe shoes, lock up the winter parkas, and throw a light jacket over your shoulder because Butler County is beaming with outdoor Spring events!

Where in the world could you see flying fish, octopi, alligators, and geometric shapes? Right here in Butler County you can see all of those things flying high in the sky as kites! Kite Fest in West Chester at Voice of America Park is April 10-11 and will feature hundreds of flying kites, The Chicago Fire Kite Team, and a variety of children’s activities including a kite building workshop and a parachute run!

What is the “sport of spring”? Let’s all say it together—baseball! The MLB/Pepsi Pitch, Hit & Run event is at Foundation Field in Hamilton on April 10. Let your child show off his or her killer baseball skills at this friendly competition. Be sure to bring a copy of the child’s birth certificate to the event.

The 14th Annual Ohio Mozart Festival will transform the Hamilton-Fairfield area of Butler County into a musical, action-packed, sporty, concert-filled week! During April 17-25, the Ohio Mozart Festival will host a variety of different events including a Meters for Mozart 5K Run/Walk, a Wine Tasting Party, and Grand Finale Concert all in one week!

April E-News, Hopping into Happiness

After the Easter Egg hunt with the kids, take the family out to an event that also has an adult-friendly twist. These events are exciting for the kids, as well as indulgent for the parents!

You can get your Easter shopping done as well as entertaining your kids at the Cincinnati Premium Outlets in Monroe! The Easter Bunny will hop through the Outlets April 2-3 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. bringing children an Easter Egg filled with goodies! So, Mom’s—bring your camera and your credit card for this special Easter shopping trip!

Take your family out to a delicious Easter Brunch at the Savannah Center in West Chester on April 4. Your friends and family will love the array of culinary selections on the Brunch Buffet and all the Easter festivities. Call today to make your reservations!

Children and parents alike will enjoy the Eggciting Adventure Festival at the Fairfield West Baptist Church on April 3. This festival features free lunch, big blow-up games, an Easter Egg Hunt with over 5,000 eggs and 100 prizes to give away, and the Fairfield Fire Department will be there educating audiences with their giant ladder and smoke house.

April E-News, Easter Eggstravaganza

How did you celebrate Easter when you were young? Easter Egg Hunts, visits to the Easter Bunny, big family celebrations? Create a memorable Easter experience for your children this year in Butler County!

Fill your child’s heart with love this Easter by taking them to an Easter Egg Hunt and Open House/Adpot-A-Thon at the Animal Friends Humane Society in Hamilton on April 3. Visitors can find hidden Easter treats along the outdoor trail or visit with the homeless dogs and cats waiting a family. Adoption fees will be discounted and visitors can even bring their own dog or cat to the shelter for a special $15 micro-chipping.

The charming college town of Oxford is hosting an Easter Egg Hunt for children with ages between one year old and third grade. Thousands of eggs filled candy and surprises will be scattered throughout the Oxford Community Park Field on April 3. The rain date for this event is Sunday, April 4.

Bring the family and their Easter Baskets out to an Easter Egg Hunt at the First Baptist Church of Middletown on April 3. Children, ages toddler through sixth grade, can search for treat-filled Easter Eggs, make crafts, and play games!
